MK College Group are seeking a creative and inspiring Catering Lecturer / Tutor who possesses excellent industry knowledge and skills, to join the education team at HMP Full Sutton.

As a Catering Lecturer you will be delivering Catering to diverse groups of learners based within the prison. Working in a prison environment can be challenging but highly rewarding and varied.

We believe in the power of transforming lives through learning; we are passionate about reducing re-offending by providing learners with qualifications and skills that they can apply to employment whilst in custody and upon release. We would like you to be part of the learner’s journey, offering your skills and knowledge to guide them throughout their courses.

A teaching qualification would be desirable, however those willing to work towards a teaching qualification who hold supporting subject specialism or industry experience would also be considered - we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential.

ABOUT HMP FULL SUTTON

HMP Full Sutton, is a modern, purpose-built high security category A prison. Opened in 1987 and situated about 11 miles east of the City of York. It has a population of approximately 630, serving more than 4 years; 60% of the inmates are serving life sentences. The population is split with 60% Vulnerable Prisoners and 40% mainstream inmates.

 

The Vulnerable Prisoners and Mainstream population do not mix. With longer sentences and a more stable population, learners are engaged with education. Education is Monday – Thursday AM for Mainstream Prisoners and Monday - Thursday PM for Vulnerable Prisoners (VP’s).

 

The education hours for the men are Monday to Thursday 08.30am – 11.30am and 2.00pm – 4.30pm – Learners do not stay in college for lunch, they all return to their designated wing after their allocated session.

Staff are on site from approx. 08.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, with 45-minute lunch, staying on site once the men have gone back to the wings for prep/admin time between 4.30pm – 5.00pm. The regime hours are slightly longer than other prisons due to the fact they do not run education on a Friday, staff do work a half day on Friday, on-site for prep/admin between 08:00-12:00.
