We are looking to recruit an experienced Programme Manager / curriculum leader to enhance the delivery of our vocational services courses including; Catering, Barbering, Industrial Cleaning, Car valeting and Employment Academies that run courses for Railtrack, Plant Machinery and Recycling courses.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated programme manager / curriculum leader to deliver learner success, through effective leadership within our Vocational Services Programme. This vacancy would suit a highly motivated programme manager that specialises in within the industries, for example cleaning / catering and has a positive can do approach to education and the success of their students. The ideal candidate will have experience and success within their field of expertise and experience of managing a team.

HMP Oakwood is a private sector Category C resettlement prison for males over the age of 21. It is one the largest prisons in England with a current population of 2106. The Education department works in close partnership with G4S to enable learners to become functionally literate, highly skilled, confident and employable through a natural acquisition of learning, delivered through an embedded whole organisational approach and working in partnership with all stakeholders.

As a successful candidate, you will have:

  • A degree or equivalent vocational qualification in a Services / Industries subject area.
  • A teaching qualification (QTLS as appropriate).
  • Assessor/Verifier Awards.
  • Teaching/training experience in Catering / Cleaning / Plant Machinery/ Recycling, along with employability and up-to-date knowledge of these subject areas and employer requirements.
  • Understanding of the necessary employability skills required in the current UK economy.
  • Evidence of providing high quality effective programmes leading to outstanding success.
  • Experience of data analysis.
  • Experience of identifying, developing and sharing resources focused on teaching and learning.
  • Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable).
  • Knowledge of current relevant initiatives within the Offender Learning.
  • The requirement of this role is to work across the whole prison estate, on all wings where education is delivered.

Location: HMP Oakwood

Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £28,940 - £34,327 per annum
