The Village of Renton Community Integration Project
Cordale Housing Association work in a group partnership with Caledonia Housing Association. Cordale Housing Association is a registered charity that provides affordable housing in Renton, West Dunbartonshire and has had an active approach to community development to achieve wider regeneration. As part of this wider role, the Association has secured Big Lottery Funding for the transformation of underused open space as a Community Garden to provide communal growing and event space to benefit tenants and the wider community. The aim is to use the garden as a catalyst for wider regeneration to offer opportunities to bring people of all ages and backgrounds together, to enhance wellbeing, to promote skills and confidence and enable access to affordable healthy food produce. The Association have consulted with and secured the support of a range of organisations including schools and care providers that are keen to be involved in development and use of the garden.
The Association is now seeking to employ a Community Garden Project Co-ordinator with suitable skills and experience in horticulture, community food growing and community development. This post holder will lead the development and delivery of the Community Garden and all associated programmes to engage local people and groups in set up and ongoing use of the space and ensure the garden is well maintained, attractive and productive. The aim is to use the Garden as a catalyst for wider change and a community learning approach will be needed to increase the skills and capacity of local people to establish a community gardening group to make best use of the space and manage the day to day running of the Garden on a self-reliant basis.
We want to create opportunities for local people from a wide range of ages, abilities and background to come together and build stronger village integration and social relationships. Our new community integration project in the village of Renton will help local people have more access to opportunities to improve their lives and will help to tackle loneliness & isolation. The project will improve community integration and intergenerational growth through the provision of new opportunities for the local people to come together; and will provide new volunteering opportunities which will enable local people to take part in physical and social activities.
If you are the person who can deliver on all our objectives in this project we would like to hear from you.
