We are looking for a confident, dynamic and ambitious Finance Manager for Family Services in London Borough of Barnet who can lead a dynamic Finance admin team. You will be joining and leading a hardworking and busy support team for Family Services, ensuring sound financial infrastructure, policies, processes, standards and procedures are in place to support the business as well as monitoring compliance across the Service.

 

Key Tasks:

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the running of the day-to-day finance functions for Family Services in London Borough of Barnet. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Monthly reporting and monitoring of budgets.
  • Advising on budget management and provide strategic advice and guidance for senior leadership and managers within Family Services, including tracking and avoiding overspends.
  • Overlooking forecasts, and ensuring they are realistic.
  • Assessment and management of risk, both for the business and for finances.
  • Supporting, training and guiding cost centre managers around financial matters.
  • Processing invoices, both accounts receivable and payable; including end of year processes and meeting deadlines.
  • Lead on the development of innovative financial arrangements entered into with partner organisations, such as pooled budgets and joint financing.
  • Recommend system developments and enhancements that meet current and future business requirements.

 

The Successful Applicant will have:

  • ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA qualification or equivalent mix of qualifications and experience
  • Local government experience in children’s services would be advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - must be able to 'tell the story behind the numbers' to stakeholders who lie outside the finance team
  • The drive and know how to take ownership of processes within the finance function
  • A 'bigger picture' mindset, as well as strong attention to detail
  • A truly hands on approach
  • The ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
  • Proficient Excel user
  • Experience with Integra/CONTROCC would be a bonus
