At St Mungo’s our vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.

The Horn of Africa Health and Wellbeing Project is a community embedded project that advises and supports people from refugee communities in West London, who are experiencing difficulties in accessing the services, support and opportunities required to meet their immediate needs and rebuild their lives. Our clients include recently granted refugees who have become homeless after receiving refugee status and need support to begin a new life, and people who have been in West London for much longer, and are in need of advice, support and advocacy.

The Project has received funding from the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities Fund to build on the success of the first three years of the project. We are therefore looking for an exceptional individual to join the team, in developing and implementing the service going forward.

In this role you will provide a holistic casework and support service, and with the support of the coordinator, recruit, train and supervise volunteers to assist the team. The focus of the service is to work collaboratively with clients to develop goals, plans and strategies to overcome or avoid homelessness and destitution and to reach health and wellbeing goals You will also be responsible for holding a caseload of clients, running open access advice sessions, and designing and facilitating group workshops.

To succeed, you will have experience of case management, and of advocating for refugees and other vulnerable migrants, and a good working knowledge of accessing UK mainstream services; including accommodation, health services, welfare benefits and other community services. You will also be client focused, determined to achieve positive outcomes for clients and be able to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of people. A willingness to work flexibly across several locations, and contribute to any aspect of the Project’s work, is also required.

We welcome applications from applicants with an ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a relevant language to this community.
