To support the Cook and catering team with the provision of all catering within school in a professional, safe and hygienic manner.
RESPONSIBLE FOR
To assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of basic food (hot and cold) and beverages using set recipes/specifications
Assist in waste materials removal and disposal
Use of kitchen equipment, knives for food preparation
Refill and replace sauces, condiments and other consumables
Assist in the proper storage and stock control of chemicals and foodstuff
Operate a cashless till pod
Serving and assisting customers in a professional manner
Undertake cleaning and washing up, as directed, in the kitchen, serving and dining areas
Prepare the dining room for service, including any cleaning and moving and setting up of furniture and equipment
To serve meals and refreshments in line with academy requirements. This may be in the main serveries or in satellite schools, as the service grows
To assist the Cook and colleagues with academy hospitality functions
Follow food hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen in accordance with health and safety, food hygiene and COSSH regulations, at all times
Work to set standards and maintain consistent standards
May demonstrate own duties to new or less experienced staff
Exchange information with other catering staff, and interaction with students to establish their needs
Maintain basic records, such as food temperature, where required
Identify straight forward solutions to simple problems
Willingness to undertake health and safety training and attend any relevant training courses, as required
Basic food hygiene and food preparation skills required
Basic numeracy to understand weighing and till reconciliation
Basic literacy to read instructions
Previous catering experience desirable
First aid at work may be a requirement
Deliver and serve meals at our off site provision, located within close proximity of OSCA
