Are you a highly organised individual seeking an opportunity to join a dynamic forward-looking team? Do you set yourself high standards and have experience of communicating with stakeholders?

TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. This is a busy and exciting time for us with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse as transport plays a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

We are seeking a Support Officer to join our Highways Function. In this role you provide administration support to the Infrastructure Development team through the co-ordination of transport responses to major planning applications that may impact on the regional transport network. You will use GIS software to map applications and also collate and manage application responses.  You will work with Greater Manchester Highway / Planning Authorities, consultants and other functions of TfGM and provide additional administrative support to the wider Highways team including the coordination of diaries and arranging meetings.

You will be an excellent communicator and problem solver, highly organised, and have demonstrable experience of managing varied workloads and conflicting priorities. You will have experience of working with GIS applications and dealing with correspondence for the public and external organisations. You will also have experience of delivering administrative support including setting up and maintaining administrative systems and databases as well as managing calendars successfully. It is essential you can work well in a team structure and you are able to facilitate activities across a diverse range of people within and outside the organisation. You will also have GCSE’s at Grade C or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract opportunity.

The salary range for this role is £21,214 - £22,947 per annum.  Salary on appointment will be dependent upon your skills and experience.

In return, as well as a competitive salary, we also offer a range of fantastic benefits, such as:

  • Free Rail or Metrolink travel to and from work within the Greater Manchester boundary
  • Free bus travel within Greater Manchester
  • 27 days holiday per annum
  • Access to the local government pension scheme

We welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.  We are actively building a diverse workforce and want to create an inclusive environment as we recognise the importance of our workforce reflecting the communities we serve.

If you believe you have the skills and experience required for this role, we would like to hear from you!

We anticipate that interviews will take place on 9th/10th July 2020.
