BRITISH CYCLING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION ADVISORY GROUP - MEMBERS

The British Cycling Federation is seeking members for a newly established Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group that will bring together a collective of expert representatives across equality, diversity, and inclusion, to advise on the future development, implementation, and evaluation of British Cycling’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Framework.

The Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group will report directly to the Board of Directors and its main purpose will be to provide expert advice to British Cycling and its Executive Leadership Team on specific issues that impact on inclusion and diversity delivery for groups, defined as having protected characteristics, under the provisions of the Inclusion Act 2010. The Group will also be tasked with shaping and monitoring the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan to ensure that equality and diversity policies and procedures are effectively translated into programmes of action and that inclusive practices are embedded across British Cycling.

Who we are looking for:
Members will have experience of dealing in sensitive issues around the protected characteristics groups and experience of contributing to culture and process change needed to improve outcomes for equality, diversity, and inclusion. They will have a knowledge of and /or lived experiences of the equality, diversity, and inclusion challenges across the sports sector or other similar sectors.

We are looking for members who have the ability to critically review existing diversity and inclusion strategies and frameworks and provide advice on content, balance, and future direction. They will have an awareness of the key events and issues surrounding equality, diversity, and inclusion in sport.

The Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group will meet every two months in the first year followed by quarterly meetings and there will be a degree of work between meetings.
Meetings will be scheduled in advance for the year, with the first meeting envisaged for February 2021. The role is unremunerated but essential travel and subsistence costs will be met.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 11 January 2021, at 9:00am.
