About the role As the York and North Yorkshire region are entering into a phase of devolution, this is an exciting opportunity to work closely with senior leaders across the College to develop and deliver a high-quality curriculum offer that meets the needs of students, employers, and stakeholders. York College is the largest provider of education in York and the surrounding area, meaning this role is likely to set the tone for Professional, Higher Education, and Adult programmes across North Yorkshire.
The role requires someone who is highly passionate about supporting students and working with them to deliver high quality student outcomes and an outstanding student experience.
You will be responsible for leading staff delivering all our level 4 plus provision including BA (Hons) Degree, Foundation Degrees, Initial Teaching Education, Higher Nationals and professional qualifications in AAT accounting, CIPD, ILM and SEG L4 Therapeutic Counselling, plus a range of Adult courses from Entry Level to Level 3.
Working closely with representative boards, such as the Local Enterprise Partnership and Chamber of Commerce, as well as engaging with employers and liaising our university partners and awarding bodies, this role will shape the future of professional, higher education, and adult curriculum in the college and wider region.
About the Person Ideally you will have experience delivering Higher Education, Professional or Adult qualifications in a Further Education setting. A good communicator and a team player, you will need to be resilient and be able to influence and negotiate in this cross-college role. Organisation and robust time management are a must.
Understanding of the Office for Students requirements (or the ability to learn them quickly) and the ability to ensure York College is fulfilling all our obligations will be a key part of this role.
This is a key management post and the successful candidate will ensure the learner experience is brilliant, matches their needs and maximises success. With excellent interpersonal skills you will need to deliver continuous improvements and work across teams to ensure College targets are met. You will also be able to interrogate data and identify the actions necessary to secure improvements.
This is a cross college managerial position so the ability to communicate, influence and negotiate at all levels is essential. The ideal candidate will be resilient, a team player and committed to supporting adult students in achieving their ambitions.
