Date Palm Project

37.5hrs per week

The Date Palm Project is a partnership between St Mungo’s and the National Zakat Foundation.

The Date Palm Project’s purpose is to give young Muslim men who are leaving prison the opportunity and the means to change the direction of their lives. They are supported in a faith sensitive environment and given an opportunity to leave behind their offending history and pursue their ambitions.

The aim of the Project is to provide a powerful combination of housing, employment and support for young Muslims leaving prison to reduce the chances of re-offending and transform their lives.

We're looking to recruit a motivated and dedicated project worker to join the service. Your role will involve undertaking key working activities such as referrals/interviews/booking in clients and housing management activities such as finances, resettlement, health and wellbeing. You will also assist our clients to develop and care for themselves by providing advice and guidance on personal development and relevant life skills.

To succeed, you will either have personal experience of homelessness or a sound understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people. Additionally, you will have some experience of working with offenders, or vulnerable adults in a criminal justice setting (or related field). You should also possess good interpersonal and listening skills and have the ability to manage complex and difficult situations; in relation to people. Good numeracy, IT and written communication skills are also required.

In return, we offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and flexible working to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. We are also committed to providing our staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities; in support of their personal and professional development.

Flexibility is required, as you will be working a shift rota.
