Come and join our growing team and be part of the successful ‘Boudica Schools Trust’.  Eaton Hall Specialist Academy has an Ofsted rating of Outstanding for the last ten years. We now have vacancies for Childcare Officers at Eaton Halls new sister school in Great Yarmouth, Bure Park Specialist Academy.

The childcare officer position requires staff to work three days per week (35 hours) and in addition one sleep-in duty per week (7hrs).  In total the period worked each week is 42 hours.

The Childcare Officer role itself involves staff supporting pupils in class in the same way that a teaching assistant works to support pupil progress and includes working in a residential capacity.  This is a great opportunity to learn about education in its holistic sense and gain a vast amount of knowledge prior to embarking on a career of teaching.

The added dimension in these posts is being an advocate for a small group of children supporting both their home and their development in school.  Therefore, the remuneration for this is at Scale F which is a 2 grades above Teaching Assistants in this school, although this title itself does not do justice to the experience staff receive.

The Academy is a residential special school for boys in the age range 7 – 16 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

The Academy runs a very strong staff support and development programme. The successful candidates will be reliable, persistent and loyal, with a good sense of humour and strength of character.  The academy is looking for people who have a variety of interests outside the curriculum that would lend themselves to leading activities with children.

Pupils arrive with disrupted educational experiences and complex difficulties and our team will be responsible for ensuring that they leave with superb outcomes academically, socially and behaviourally.

Our school shares the vision of our sponsor, the Boudica Academy Trust, that improving the life chances of all pupils has to be at the heart of all we do.  To achieve this Boudica firmly believes in valuing and championing all members of staff employed throughout the trust.

The position is permanent and required for term time only plus 5 training days. The weeks worked are 39 weeks; therefore payment is pro rata over 12 equal monthly payments per year.

The successful applicants must be prepared to undergo any further training as requested by the Trust and will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations, therefore you will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether disqualified under these regulations.

The postholder will need to be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing in order to undertake the requirements of the role.

For more information regarding this vacancy please contact the Recruitment Team by email at or by contacting Eaton Hall on 01603 457480.

Please select the “Apply for job” button and enter your details.

You must “Submit” your fully completed application by the closing date/time.

Closing date: 9:00am on Friday 16th April 2021

Interviews will take place during the weeks from April 19th to May 14th. Due to Covid restrictions we cannot set out precise dates at this stage but candidates will be informed at the point they are invited to interview.

This Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is likely to come under the requirements of the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations, therefore successful candidates will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether disqualified under these regulations. Applicants must be prepared to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and attend a Warner Interview. Right to Work in the UK will need to be established. We are an equal opportunities employer.
