Assistant Principal - Teaching, Learning & Curriculum

Permanent, Full Time

Leadership Pay Scale  L11 - L15 (£56,796 - £62,560 per annum)

Starting April 2023

Hewett Academy is seeking an inspiring, innovative, and dedicated Assistant Principal to deliver and achieve high aspirations for achievement and personal development of all pupils across the school. The successful candidate will ensure pupils receive an exceptional teaching experience through mentoring, coaching, professional development and performance management of staff.

The role will involve line management responsibilities, liaising with the Inspiration Trust Central Education team and working with curriculum leaders and teachers at the Academy to ensure effective teaching and learning strategies are implemented across the school.

Hewett Academy is one of the most iconic schools in Norwich. We were graded as a ‘good’ school by Ofsted in our last inspection. Since then we have built strong relationships with our community and pride ourselves on being a highly inclusive school in which children from all backgrounds walk alongside the most diverse student population in Norwich. Our students demonstrate respect for each other and their teachers throughout the school. We aspire to bridge the disadvantage gap for which the four pieces our students exhibited in the Royal Academy of Arts last year are a testament. If you believe that the four pillars of our curriculum vision - knowledge rich education, cultural capital, a focus on literacy and development of creativity - can improve life chances, then come and join us. Once you are part of Hewett, you always will be - come and join the family.

We are part of the Inspiration Trust, twice ranked as the country’s top family of comprehensive schools for pupil progress, and strongly believe in the importance of giving the widest educational opportunities to all young people, regardless of their background. We have strong networks across the Trust, with opportunities to work with a diverse range of schools and partners. We are committed to offering excellent professional and learning opportunities for our staff, with a busy programme of continuing professional development courses delivered by some of the country’s best educational thinkers and practitioners.
