We are recruiting for Children & Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioners x 2 (one full-time and one part-time 22hrs PW) to work in our Early Help Service which is part of Barnet’s Integrated Clinical Services (BICS), sitting within Barnet Council Family Services.

Previous applicants need not apply.

Only those who fulfil the essential criteria need apply – see essential criteria on Job Specification

In line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, BICS delivers child centered mental health and wellbeing support by Clinical Practitioners, Primary Mental Health Workers, Children and Young People Wellbeing Practitioners and very soon Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP). The aim of our service is to help identify Mental Health needs and/or emotional difficulties in children and young people at an early stage, provide timely specialist support and signposting to other services post-intervention, thus holding the potential for avoiding more serious difficulties.

Our CWP provision provides evidence based, short-term interventions for low to moderate mental health presentations (anxiety, low mood and/or behavioral difficulties).   Additionally, CWPs raise awareness of mental health and emotional wellbeing to school staff, parents, young people and other professionals to promote positive mental health. The service functions across three locality hubs in Barnet meaning that our interventions are community based (e.g. at school, in the community or at home), and can be tailored to the need of each child or young person.

Barnet is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Barnet operates stringent safer recruitment procedures.

The positions are currently funded until March 2021 and may be extended, subject to funding.
