Job Description – Catering Assistant
Key responsibilities
- Assisting in general duties involved in the production and service within the school’s catering service.
- Assisting with stock rotation.
- Assisting as required with deliveries relating to the catering department.
- To maintain hygiene and safety regulations for yourself and within your working environment of the kitchen.
- Kitchen and equipment cleaning.
- Assist in the preparation and cleaning of the dining and other areas of service delivery, including movement of furniture as appropriate to ensure a smooth operational catering service as and when required.
- To have ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
- To assist with any other catering requirements of the school in addition to the break(s) and lunchtime service.
Education and knowledge
- Basic Food Hygiene certificate
- Basic Health & Safety certificate
- Basic knowledge of C.O.S.H.H.
- Basic numeracy.
- Basic literacy.
- Basic knowledge / working experience of hygiene regulations, health & safety.
Experience
- Friendly and helpful disposition with a professional customer focussed approach.
- Shows a high level of personal cleanliness.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and on one’s own.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Ability to handle money, operate a cash register.
- Good interpersonal / communication skills towards staff and customers.
- Willingness to undertake training.
- Physically able to manually lift food provisions on delivery to storage areas / preparation areas / point of service and arrange dining room facilities when required.
- Flexible approach with a willingness to work outside normal hours when required.
