HMYOI Aylesbury are recruiting for an experienced Hospitality / Catering lecturer / teacher to join their education team. They are looking for a candidate with extensive industry experience to deliver Hospitality courses up to Level 3 to a diverse group of learners within the prison. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Lecturer to deliver high learner success through effective teaching and delivery in Hospitality from Level 1 Introduction to the Hospitality Industry up to Level 3 Hospitality qualifications.
The course covers a variety of routes such as Catering, Food Service and the Hospitality industry as a whole, helping our learners to discover many different aspects of the Hospitality industry and gain valuable practical and teamwork skills.
This vacancy would suit a highly motivated Hospitality teacher, with a can do approach to education. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and creative lecturer, who can thrive upon working within a challenging yet rewarding environment, who can offer skills & knowledge to our learners and guide them throughout their courses in order to reach their maximum potential.
Location: HMYOI Aylesbury
Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
(Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm / Friday: 8:00am – 12:00pm)
Salary: £18,015 - £32,578 per annum (Dependant on skills & experience)

About HMYOI Aylesbury
HMYOI Aylesbury is a prison housing young prisoners aged 18-21, all serving sentences over 4 years. The Education Department works closely with our prison colleagues to deliver medium to long courses that help prepare learners for employment both within the long-term prison estate and on release to the community. Courses include English and Maths Functional Skills (Entry 2 to Level 2), Business, ICT, Hospitality, Music Technology and Radio, Painting & Decorating, Horticulture, Construction, peer mentoring and Barbering. This is complemented by a range of courses available through distance learning at level 3 and beyond e.g. Open University, A Levels and BTEC level 3.

As a successful candidate, you will:
• Hold a relevant qualification (level 3 or above) in Hospitality.
• Hold a recognised teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed) or willing to work towards
• Hold relevant assessor/verifier awards.
• Have teaching/training or vocational experience in relevant subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge.
• Have a proven track record of managing and supporting diverse groups of learners through nationally accredited programmes.
• Have experience of identifying, developing and sharing innovative and creative teaching resources
• Have experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable).
• Have knowledge of current curriculum and accreditation developments within Further Education and specific subject area(s).
• Have the ability to teach creatively, adapting to the needs of a variety of learners and willing to explore new teaching and learning strategies.
• Have good IT skills and willing to develop further.
• Show accuracy and precision in written presentation.
• The requirement of this role is to work across the whole prison estate, on all wings where education is delivered.
