HMPYOI Brinsford’s education department are looking for an experienced Inclusion and Development Programme / Curriculum Manager to join their Milton Keynes College Offender Learning team to improve learner attendance, engagement, allocation and recruitment of learners onto courses.

The successful candidate will be the department lead for Equality and Diversity and Inclusion/Engagement activities. You will manage student support services and the engagement and inclusion workers, you will also take responsibility for the marketing of the College provision.  

As Inclusion and Development Programme Manager, you will have experience in re-engaging difficult learners into education and providing high quality effective programmes. The ideal candidate will have experience and success in their knowledge of Inclusion and Development and experience managing a team.

Location: HMPYOI Brinsford
Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £28,940 - £34,327 per annum

HMP/YOI Brinsford is a Category C adult male prison as well as a young adult’s institute. The Education Department works closely with prison colleagues to deliver relevant courses from Entry Level to Level 2 that help prepare learners for employment upon release. We are proud to boast the Interserve Academy in Industrial Cleaning; the Academy was set up in partnership with Interserve to support young adults to develop employability skills and gain qualifications leading to employment with the company on release.

In the department we believe the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge will help our learners to end their offending behaviour.  We engage the hardest to reach learners and encourage them to take pride in their own education and self-development. 

As a successful candidate you will:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Coaching / Mentoring or IAG or similar
  • A teaching qualification (QTLS as appropriate) (Desirable)
  • Assessor/Verifier Awards (desirable).
  • Teaching/training experience in a relevant discipline/subject area and up-to-date knowledge of this
  • Experience re-engaging learners
  • Coaching, mentoring, challenging disengaged students providing support services
  • Proven experience of line managing staff
  • Evidence of providing high quality effective programmes
  • Experience of identifying, developing and sharing resources focused on teaching and learning
  • Accuracy and precision in written presentation
