Milton Keynes College is working in partnership with HMP Ranby to put education at the heart of the prison system.

Are you an experienced administrator looking to develop your existing Administration skills within a professional and collaborative environment?

We are seeking a capable and experienced Administrator who will provide a high quality service to both internal and external stakeholders. The ability to work on your initiative with minimal supervision is critical to this role as much of the time you will be required to work self-sufficiently.

As Department Administrator you will be:

  • Collating and analysing data
  • Creating and maintaining filing systems
  • Using appropriate databases and spreadsheets
  • Providing administrative support to the Education Manager and the team as appropriate.
  • Undertaking daily administration and data processes.
  • Responsible for the processing and filling of learners certificates and ensuring they are received by students.
  • Assisting in the invigilation of exams when necessary.

Location: HMP Ranby
Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £14,910 - £19,525, per annum             
Closing date: 31 st October 2017

This role is based at HMP Ranby which is a Category C Training Prison holding prisoners that are serving medium to long term sentences. Category C Training Prisons offer employment and training in a variety of activities.

Milton Keynes College works in partnership with the prison to provide the prisoners with both academic courses and vocational training opportunities to equip them with skills and qualifications necessary to increase their employment prospects on release and Teamwork to enable the men to develop skills in these areas.

Working together the college and prison are committed to providing positive opportunities to enable the men in the establishment to reach their full potential and inspire them to end their offending behaviour.

As a successful candidate, you will have:

  • A good basic education including GCSE level C or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Previous role experience in administration.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to ensure all tasks are completed to deadlines
  • The ability to prioritise and schedule multiple tasks
  • Strong PC Skills including Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and create and sustain effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy and methodical working
  • Flexible and have a resilient approach
  • Able to maintain effectiveness under pressure
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to make progress without close supervision
  • A patient, friendly and welcoming individual
