Are you excited about using your skills and experience to make a real difference to the travelling public? Are you able to build and uphold long term relationships with customers and understand complex technical data to determine problems, identify the best solution and implement them?

TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone.  We deliver high-profile, large-scale transport projects, and it’s our experts who provide the information and analysis to shape transport strategy. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.

Greater Manchester is embarking on an exciting period of transition and evolving with a growing population and economy, with public transport central to providing new connectivity. TfGM’s vision is to have “World class connections that support long term, sustainable economic growth and access to opportunity for all”.

In this role, you will be responsible for the effective contract management of the £30million TfGM spend on tendered bus services ensuring that TfGM receives best value for money for standard bus and local link services across Greater Manchester.  You will manage operator relationships to achieve agreed standards of service delivered through contracted, commercial and partnership arrangements. Demonstrating a sound working knowledge of contract management, with the ability to negotiate and influence at a senior level you will also work in partnership with key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes across functional departments of TfGM.

You will be required to work on a standby and call out rota and the provisions as outlined in the attached document provide further detail on the remuneration with respect to this.

You will be able to build strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders and contractors, coupled with experience of proactively managing problems as they arise and have strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate people, encouraging personal development and embedding a ‘can do’ attitude within the team.  A working knowledge of the bus industry would be ideal, although not essential.

Interviews will be held week commencing 23rd and 30th September.

The salary for this role is £40,555 - £45,646 per annum. In return, as well as a competitive salary, we also offer a range of fantastic benefits, such as:

  • Free Rail or Metrolink travel to and from work within the Greater Manchester boundary
  • Free bus travel within Greater Manchester
  • 27 days holiday per annum
  • Access to the local government pension scheme

At TfGM we encourage candidates to discuss flexible working options at any stage of the recruitment process.

We welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.  We are actively building a diverse workforce and want to create an inclusive environment as we recognise the importance of our workforce reflecting the communities we serve.

If you believe you can meet our requirements for this exciting opportunity we would like to hear from you!
