Part-time Cleaner (Fixed-Term)

Working with our existing cleaner, you will be responsible for the cleaning of the offices and visitor centre at RSPB Old Moor, a nature reserve between Rotherham and Barnsley off the Manvers Way. We are keen to keep the facilities cleaned to a high standard to ensure all visitors enjoy their visit.

This is a 6 month role is for 2 hours a day, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (total 6 hrs) working from 3pm to 5pm. 

What's the role about? 

The Visitor's Centre is assessed for quality control and you will be vital in keeping it cleaned to a high standard as well as cleaning the office building and other occasional cleaning tasks.  The Facilities Manager will direct your work but usually you will follow a cleaning rota to ensure all areas are covered. 

Main duties include:

  • Hoovering and mopping floors in all areas
  • Cleaning the public and staff toilets and shower; refilling toilet rolls, soap and hand towel dispensers
  • Dusting and wiping desks
  • Cleaning high touch points such as doors, handles, switches and mirrors
  • Check stock levels of cleaning materials

Essential skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Knowledge of the use of cleaning products to ensure products are used in a safe and appropriate manner (COSHH).
  • An understanding of colour coding cleaning tools and avoiding cross contamination.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety  in the workplace and manual handling.
  • Good time management skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to see from a customer’s point of view.
  • Ability to transport cleaning products (buckets of water, vacuum cleaner) around the offices and visitor entre.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience of cleaning offices
  • Some experience of cleaning busy public environments
  • Being able to work as a team with our cleaner, and cover holidays and illness where possible.

This is a part-time role for 6 hours per week for 6 months.  The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
