Milton Keynes College are currently looking to recruit exceptional teaching staff to join the Education Departments across the West Midlands Region and are hosting an Offender Learning Careers Open Day to allow qualified teachers an opportunity to take a tour of the facilities, speak with the on-site management team and find out more about the opportunities available.

With a wide range of permanent and temporary positions available, a career in Offender Learning would suit individuals who are passionate about getting people re-engaged in learning and who want to develop their teaching skills in a secure educational environment. Working within Offender Learning provides real opportunities to transform lives, by giving offenders the knowledge, self-esteem and confidence to thrive in the world of work.

Education is proven to reduce re-offending rates and improve society within each prison. It’s a crucial part of the rehabilitation process, and often leads to employment or provides the means for self-employment.

About HMP Birmingham Education Department

Milton Keynes College operate on three sites within HMP Birmingham, East Education, West Education, and G Wing Education, offering education to both mainstream and vulnerable prisoners.

The education department is made up of a 6 person management team, overseeing 3 strand areas, Functional Skills, Vocational Training and Personal and Social Development. We offer courses from Pre Entry right through to Level 2.
