ABOUT US

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a world where trees and woods thrive for people and nature. The Trust engages and inspires people  to make their difference tackling the nature and climate crisis helping protect, restore and create our vital woods and trees.

THE ROLE

The Solution Architect will lead the solution design for the Business Management Programme, creating and maintaining all aspects of solution architecture with a focus on business engagement and documentation – essentially defining the Dynamics 365 architecture and technology frameworks. You will ensure sound design and architecture processes are followed, advising the Trust when required and utilising third parties to create capacity.

The architect will be responsible for developing and maintaining the architectural road map, combining solution, integration and infrastructure activities also from an operational perspective. You will guide and enable the organisation, partners and Digital Enablement teams in the Dynamics 365 and Power Platform implementation, providing frameworks, architecture and procedures as required.

You will work closely with the operations team to maintain software applications and integrations, ensuring pragmatic use of ‘best practice’ control and process are applied and work with partners to collaboratively set standards for software development process around Dynamics 365, Power Platform and associated technologies. You will also lead and promote a positive and collaborative team culture, spanning the Digital Enablement team and wider Trust.

THE CANDIDATE

You will employ a collaborative working style to create excellent partner relationships within the business and be experienced in changing culture and behaviours within Technology teams.  You will have proven design & architecture experience in a large complex organisation, including stakeholder management and in large implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 projects (or Dynamics AX and/or CRM), Power Platform and Microsoft SharePoint. You will possess in-depth knowledge on Dataverse capabilities, Microsoft Azure technologies, Azure Data Factory, Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, Azure Administration, Azure Security & Power Platform (such as Power Apps, Power Automate, Azure Web Apps, Logic Apps, API Gateway, Application Gateways, DB-PaaS, Azure Service Bus…).

You will have proven experience successfully managing application procurement, development and implementation using DevOps principles, including use of Azure DevOps tool to plan & track work items and be experienced in working in a structured project management framework, e.g., SCRUM or PMI.

WHAT TO EXPECT BY JOINING A TEAM AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Joining the team you will be making your contribution to tackling the nature and climate crisis. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance, good holiday allowance and the opportunity to work flexibly from home.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

At the Woodland Trust, we believe everyone deserves to have their lives enriched by trees and woods.

We also believe that our organisation should reflect and represent the full richness of human diversity in terms of background, identity, ability and circumstance. As groups of people currently underrepresented as Woodland Trust employees, we are particularly keen to receive your application if you are Black, Asian or minority ethnic, disabled or under 25. We are measuring our success in redressing this.

We are open to discussion of any adjustments or flexible working arrangements you may need to achieve your full potential at any stage of the process, and if you are successful in gaining a position with us, during employment.

We promise the only thing we assess within your application is how you have demonstrated your suitability for the job, and nothing else.

This is a hybrid working role. The standard expectation within the Woodland Trust is that you will attend the office twice a month, however roles like this within our Digital Enablement department require attendance on a very rare basis.
