We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team to develop informed, innovative and consistent marketing campaigns which promote the brand values of Chester Zoo and attract visitors.

The Role:

  • As directed by the Head of Marketing, provide market research intelligence (including benchmarking) which will be used to inform marketing, organisational and commercial decision making.
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of the Chester Zoo brand identity (onsite and offsite) to enhance the reputation of Chester Zoo as a world class visitor attraction and conservation charity.
  • Support the Head of Marketing to plan, implement and evaluate marketing campaigns to achieve visitor and financial targets and to promote a range of commercial and educational opportunities. These should make use of all digital and traditional media and tools available to us.
  • Support the Head of Marketing to plan, implement and evaluate campaigns to promote awareness and support for Act for Wildlife and our conservation work, using both digital and traditional media.
  • Determine the creative approach and choice of media to develop a robust and innovative marketing mix, managing agencies to deliver campaign elements where required.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure a high quality service, value for money and adherence to the brand guidelines and within agreed budget.
  • Management of the Marketing Officer, Digital Marketing Officer, Marketing Designer and Marketing Assistant.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A higher qualification in Marketing (i.e. Degree, CIM Diploma)
  • Proven track record in a marketing management role
  • Experience of managing an established brand, commissioning design projects and knowledge of print processes
  • A good understanding of the advertising and digital media landscape and experience of buying advertising and digital services
  • Proven track record in marketing campaign planning and delivery to meet agreed marketing objectives
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • An ability to apply audience insights and evaluation to the marketing planning process

Hours of work are 40 hours per week from 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday with a 30 minute lunch break. Some weekend and evening working may be required, for which time off in lieu will be given.
