The Archives section of the V&A is responsible for institutional records and archives management and for archive collections - principally the Archive of Art and Design and Theatre and Performance archives, together with the archive collections of Young V&A. Occupying over 8km of shelving, the collections encompass archives of over 1000 individuals and organisations relating to art, design, performance and the history of the museum. This is an exciting time to join the team, following the merger In 2021 of the integrated Archives Section and the National Art Library under the V&A Research Institute. The new department is responsible for research programmes, and for facilitating and enhancing access to the V&A’s archival and library research resources.

We are seeking to fill four vacancies:

2x full-time roles based permanently at V&A South Kensington, working with institutional records and archives in the V&A Archive and Registry team.
1x full-time and permanent role, based initially at V&A South Kensington and from 2024 at V&A East Storehouse; this post mainly supports the Archive of Art and Design and Theatre and Performance archives. T
1x permanent job-share, working two days a week, mainly supporting the Archive of Art and Design; it will also be based initially at V&A South Kensington and from 2024 at V&A East Storehouse.

These are wide-ranging roles which will enable development of skills in all aspects of archive management, care and access, as well as supporting the place of archives in knowledge development and research at the V&A. Successful candidates will have practical and organisational skills, experience of working with the public and a relevant degree or equivalent experience. As well as good IT and communication skills, we will be seeking experience of working with archives and data systems, ideally in a museum setting.
