About the role
This is a relatively new and varied role at York College which will be the key point of contact between the College and the student and their parents/carers. 

You will focus upon supporting and mentoring students to meet or exceed stretching targets, to develop as independent learners and to prepare for their next steps in education or industry. 

You will undertake several functions within the role including delivery of individual and group tutorials; tracking and supporting academic and personal progress; enterprise, progression and employability activities; supporting applications to higher education and employment; work experience planning, and reviewing and steering careers research; liaising with curriculum area team members and parents/carers to ensure students are focused, attending, performing well and enjoying their studies.

The role is fixed-term until July 2024 to cover a period of maternity leave.

About the Person
You will have:
•    An understanding of 16-18 and /or adult students and their needs
•    Experience of effective liaison and co-ordination of activities (whether in the education setting or elsewhere
•    High level interpersonal skills
•    Good time management
•    The ability to motivate students 
•    An ability to use and analyse data 
•    UCAS experience preferable

1.    The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 
The College is exempt from the provisions of the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974, by virtue of the fact that postholders have access to children and young people, and to vulnerable adults.
