We are seeking two motivated Assistant Librarians, who will be based in the NAL’s Systems and Services team. One of the roles is permanent and full time and the other is a fixed term, part time role for 6 months.

The National Art Library (NAL) at the V&A is Britain’s foremost research and reference library on art and design, open to all. It also holds the V&A’s curatorial collections of the art and design of the book. Following a recent reorganisation, the library is directed within the V&A Research Institute (VARI), together with the museum’s archives, which include the Archive of Art and Design, Theatre and Performance archives and the archive collections of Young V&A, as well as the museum’s institutional records and archives.

The full time, permanent post has a particular emphasis on the delivery of online services with specific responsibilities for systems management, enquiry handling, digitisation and copying services. The part time (28.5 hours per week), temporary post is a six month contract to cover an internal staff promotion and has an emphasis on resource sharing and group visits. Both posts would contribute to the delivery of onsite services to the public and Museum staff.

The successful candidates will have, or be working towards, a recognised qualification in librarianship or information management.  You will enjoy working to effect positive change and will be comfortable delivering to deadlines under time pressure. The ideal candidates will demonstrate excellent inter-personal and customer services skills and should also be confident working in a digital environment.

The deadline for applications is 2 October 2022 at 23.59.
