We are seeking a talented, passionate and imaginative designer to join our team.

The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance. Within the in-house design studio we get to work with world class objects, experts and collaborators to create contemporary design across the museum for an international audience. Our design work spans everything from major exhibitions and marketing campaigns to school activity packs and temporary collection displays.

The ideal person will be someone who can happily balance a range of projects – splitting their time between working alongside design leads on major projects whilst also taking ownership of small projects of their own. These projects might range from: the design of a selection of our year-round programme of temporary displays; original supergraphics and contextual imagery for a major exhibition; a campaign and programme for the annual Performance Festival; assets for our monthly Friday Late events or ensuring there is a special approach to each and every event invitation throughout the year. In addition to projects we’re looking for a team member who’ll want to contribute ideas, participate in crits and push design forward within the team.

The ideal person will be someone who has:

  1. Strong conceptual thinking, plenty of ideas and the ability to visualise and communicate ideas
  2. The ability to take a design creative from concept to delivery
  3. Experience creating great proposals for projects, including mock-ups, pitch and presentation material.
  4. Demonstrable experience delivering a broad range of output, ideally within a fast-paced environment
  5. An excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  6. Experience working with client feedback, practical requirements and production awareness to progress ideas from concept through development to final sign-offs.
  7. The ability to problem solve and proactively find effective solutions
  8. A love of print and digital with knowledge of print production process, different types of production and materials in order to liaise with our in-house team and external printers. (knowledge and experience of exhibition, display and large format print and signage would be advantageous.
  9. The ability to work with both speed and accuracy across multiple simultaneous projects under strict deadlines
