About Police Digital Service

We exist to harness the power of digital, data and technology to enable UK policing to better protect the communities it serves. Ours is a team of experts in commercial services, technical assurance, data, digital transformation and innovation, with a unique experience in policing and national programme delivery

The NEP Vision

All UK police forces will have a secure platform and national standards that enable new ways of working and collaborating; whilst maintaining the autonomy for local decision-making and the control of their digital assets.

The Role and Responsibilities

The NEP Policing Engagement Officer will be responsible for developing effective and influential relationships between the NEP Team and the Forces receiving the services. This includes supporting Forces during their change journey to the cloud through the implementation of M365, driving stakeholder engagement to highlight M365 capability and to promote the benefits of the NEP toolset, and driving cross collaboration across UK Policing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead point of contact to allocated Forces for Business Change support.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client-Force relationships, based on revisiting the expectations and needs of the main parties - the NEP Team, Suppliers and partners, and Forces.
  • Co-develop and refine Force delivery plans with NEP colleagues and Force project teams to ensure that there is a clear and joint understanding of expectations.
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with Forces, programme stakeholders and executive sponsors, to promote benefits of M365 capability, to deliver changes in ways of working.
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of NEP solutions according to customer needs and objectives.
  • Co-develop and refine Force delivery plans with NEP colleagues and Force project teams to ensure that there is a clear and joint understanding of expectations.
  • Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders and report to SMT the levels of Force ‘customer’ satisfaction.?
  • Engage with end users to identify and realise opportunities for new ways of working “use cases” through the adoption of M365, and support Forces in development, roll out and wider adoption of use cases.
  • Collaborate with the programme team to identify and grow opportunities to exploit technologies and promote collaboration regionally and nationally.?
  • Plan and conduct interviews and develop materials to secure testimonies from senior users in Forces to help others learn from experiences.
  • Working with Business Change Support colleagues, produce process improvement and ‘benefits delivered’ content to share with Forces and colleagues.

What you need to succeed in the role

  • Experience in delivering Policing-focused solutions and initiatives to meet Force needs (desirable but not essential)
  • Significant experience in Change programmes, and the tangible delivery of desired change outcomes.
  • Proven experience in influencing leaders in change implementation.
  • A proven track record of developing strong working relationships with a wide number of stakeholders, particularly in managing expectations across many Forces stakeholders.
  • Solid experience with Communication technologies, and the Office 365 toolset.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple account management projects, while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
  • Expert use of IT in particular the Microsoft Project software, and Office 365 suite.
  • A team player and able to work collaboratively with, and through, others.
  • BA/BS degree in business administration, sales or relevant field, in addition to knowledge of Policing sector priorities.

Working Arrangements

Currently the entire Company is working remotely.  We expect that, once government advice changes, a hybrid working arrangement will be implemented for this role, enabling the job holder to split their time between the office and their home. There may be some travel required in this role, dependent on the government guidelines and restrictions.
