To ensure we remain world leaders in our sport it is imperative that we provide our athletes and coaches with the best support possible, we are now working in partnership with Positive Dynamics for an innovative and experienced individual to join us in the role of:

Head of Performance Support Team - (PST) who shall:

  • Lead & manage a progressive and impactful performance support team that includes multiple functions (human sciences, engineering and analytics).
  • Work with riders, coaches & PST practitioners this will include the development of phased individual rider plans, and be responsible for provision of answers to identified ‘big questions’, both of which will be driven by the programmes “What it takes to win” (WITTW) model that this individual (in partnership with the head coach) will own. Ensure that performance support services achieve maximum impact and are fully aligned to all activity across the World Class Programme (WCP).
  • Orchestrate PST support service delivery to achieve maximum performance impact
  • Work as part of the GB Cycling Team, support the development and impactful implementation of coaching, human science, research & innovation and technology knowledge to enhance rider performance and support delivery of key performance indicators.
  • Lead and manage the technical delivery of the Performance Support Team (circa 25 BC & EIS staff) ensuring that all activity is aligned to the key performance priorities of the GB Cycling Team.
  • Work with the BC Head of Medical Services, ensure the balance of rider health is maintained while retaining a focus on performance goals.
  • Enhance and ensure consistency in the technical planning process across the Olympic and Paralympic programmes.
  • Develop effective and trusting working partnerships with Coaches and other GBCT staff.
  • Optimise appropriate connectivity and interaction between all elements of the PST (medical, human sciences, engineering, analytics, etc.).

What you need is:

We are keen to hear from individuals who have experience of strategic planning and the delivery and monitoring of SMART objectives in a High Performance environment and can demonstrate evidence of innovative and creative delivery and of the ability to inspire and support colleagues.

Experience of leading and managing a team of specialists and/or practitioners whilst working as part of a multi-disciplinary and driven team that has a track record of delivering outstanding results on the world stage is essential. You should also have a sound ability to facilitate the identification of potential key areas of focus from multiple streams followed by a robust methodology of selecting those that will yield greatest impact upon identified objectives.
