We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with resourcefulness, initiative, and an eye for detail to prepare and submit grant claims to external funding bodies.  The post holder will also provide administrative support to the wider fundraising team.  If you have enthusiasm for our work to save nature and can demonstrate your talents and transferable skills for fundraising, we would love to hear from you.

What's the role about? (key result areas and responsibilities)

The post holder will work with colleagues across RSPB to help ensure our funders have an excellent partnership experience with us, increasing their understanding and awareness of RSPB's work in saving nature.  You will be responsible for planning and attending meetings and events to manage funder and partner relationships.   

This role involves preparing and submitting grant claims to external funding bodies, securing income to support our work from grant-making trusts, foundations, and other grant makers. 

Key role activities will include;
•    Compiling and submitting timely grant claims to funding organisations to secure funds and ensure they are received promptly against budgeted spend.
•    Identifying potential external funding sources and match these to agreed priority work on our nature reserves, projects, and core work.   
•    Completing funding bids (majority small bids (up to £5k and occasional medium sized bids (£5k-£100k) tailored to external funding bodies in order to secure income to drive   forward RSPB work.
•    Providing administrative support to the fundraising team to ensure they are able to deliver the team’s work programme and meet or exceed agreed key performance indicators.
•    Producing regular reports to assess progress and action needed against KPIs to ensure agreed annual performance targets are met.


Essential skills, knowledge and experience: (maximum of 10)

•    A-level education or equivalent.
•    Good working knowledge of Excel and financial systems and information sources (e.g. budgets, annual report and accounts).
•    An understanding of and application of project management principles.
•    An ability to interpret complex information and communicate it simply to target audiences.
•    Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence.
•    A demonstrable ability to organise oneself effectively and prioritise work in order to get the right things done.
•    Demonstrable experience in using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
•    Experience of collating, analysing and presenting complex financial information.


Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:


•    Sales and or/fundraising background.
•    Understanding of charity sector and associated fundraising techniques.
•    Knowledge of and/or passion for conservation and the natural world.

This is a Permanent role for 37.5 hours per week.
