Head of Business & Economics (Full Time, September 2024)

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Langley School, as we are advertising for a new Head of Economics and Business to continue driving the department forward. Both Business and Economics are increasingly popular subjects at the school hence we are delighted to advertise for two new vacancies within our friendly and supportive team. Ideally you would be able to teach and lead both subject areas but we would consider a bias towards one subject area over another, subject to experience.  We are looking for an ambitious professional, with a proven track record of raising attainment across GCSE and A Level groups, to join our successful and well-resourced department. We offer Business at both GCSE and A Level (Edexcel specification) and offer A Level Economics (AQA specification). As a Teacher of Business and Economics at Langley School, you will be a reflective practitioner and team player, confident in your subject knowledge and keen to work collaboratively within the department, developing its curriculum to help pupils meet the challenge of examinations. We value those who are conscientious and passionate, with the desire to impart their love of Business and Economics to their classes and fellow teachers. The ability to plan and deliver innovative lessons that are suitably differentiated to meet the needs of all pupils and integrate the use of e-learning, is paramount. Grounds Operative

We are looking to recruit a Grounds Operative to our Estates Team to assist with the overall upkeep and maintenance of the outdoor spaces, playing surfaces and the School's grounds in general.

Activity Coordinator

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated candidate for a role that is ideal for someone who already works during the day, potentially within a sporting or teaching field as there is an opportunity to support our Langley Football Academy. The position offers flexible hours, free 1-2 bed accommodation and free evening meals.  The postholder will be in charge of organising activities and trips within the boarding house for children between the ages of 11 - 18. These activities and trips will vary from sporting activities to recreational pastimes, craft activities and beyond.  The duties include, but are not limited to: organising and coordinating outside/off-site trips. being responsible for liaising with the Finance Team and the Head of Boarding regarding costs, transport etc. being responsible for ensuring that Risk Assessments and all other relevant paperwork is completed for the activities and trips that are organised. The hours of work are anticipated to be 15 hours per week, in the evenings. These can be discussed at interview. Teacher of Science (Full time, September 2024)

Due to increasing student numbers, we are seeking to employ an enthusiastic full time Science Teacher, who can teach general science to younger pupils and single science subjects from GCSE and above.  In the younger years, students follow the AQA Activate Science course. We aim to give pupils a good general understanding of the topics covered and to encourage enjoyment of the subject in an understanding of the scientific method, through practical and active learning.  Pupils in years 9, 10 and 11, pupils have 3, 60-minute lessons of each subject per fortnight. The Science Department is housed in a well equipped, modern, purpose-built building and consists of 8 laboratories and two prep rooms. There are currently 8 full-time science teachers in the department. we are supported by three excellent technicians. All labs have interactive whiteboards. Pupils and students are taught in small sets.  The School also offers a daily program of sports and activities to which all staff are expected to contribute, according to their interests and expertise. Science-based activities would be welcome as an extension to those gifted in this respect. the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Responsibilities This Job Description covers the principal tasks required of the role and is not necessarily a complete list of everything required for the full professional discharge of duties. Key responsibilities include: Plan and prepare lesson plans that meet core objectives and principles and are in line with the curriculum goals. Prepare instructional aids and supplemental teaching materials and resources consistent with learning objectives and pupil needs and which integrate the use of pupil digital devices. Deliver lessons using a variety of differentiated instructional techniques, including e-learning, that are appropriate to the academic level and meet the diverse needs of pupils. Develop pupils' abilities to work independently and collaboratively in groups. Track and monitor pupil learning using a variety of techniques, including grade assessments and assignments, and preparing and administering curriculum aligned assessments. Monitor performance, progress, and modify instructional methods to meet individual needs. Carry out weekly duties, as scheduled on the Duty Rota. Cover a Day Duty in the Boarding House on one Saturday/Sunday a year. Attend additional school events which can occur in the evening or at weekends on occasions (eg Parents Evenings, Information Evenings Open Mornings, Speech Day). Perform any other activities or roles, commensurate with the post, which are reasonably requested by the Headteacher. Skills & Experience Hold a minimum qualification of an honour’s degree in a Science subject, ideally with QTS. Proven track record of successfully teaching Science A strong commitment to ensuring the highest levels of teaching and learning. Excellent subject knowledge with the ability to communicate in an imaginative, creative and enthusiastic way during lessons. Passionate about the development of own practice. Ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Be willing to commit to co-curricular activities that add value to the school and local community. Understand and have a willingness to adapt and contribute to the needs of an independent boarding school.
