This role will be based at Canal Parade.   Responsibilities include:   To be actively involved in all timetabled practical sessions within the working hours of the contract providing support for staff with resources and equipment to enable these sessions to run effectively. To maintain procedures for safe efficient and effective operation of the Faculty facilities. To assist lecturing staff in the preparation of materials and equipment for student activities. To ensure that adequate supplies of materials, equipment and tools etc are available when and where required. To dismantle learner’s work and salvage materials for future use. To keep a regular check on tools, equipment etc and to assist lecturing staff in ensuring general security within the department. To assist in checking stock and keeping stock records updated on an annual basis. To carry out general routine inspection maintenance. To assist in ensuring safe working environment in all areas designated. This duty includes portable appliance testing (PAT), COSHH regulations and any future regulations that the College may need to introduce together with associated recording procedures. To assist lecturing staff in the preparation of course teaching materials and in curriculum development and delivery as a team member. Assisting in developments of a general nature. Our Campus Advice & Guidance Assistants will provide excellent customer services to all stakeholders whilst maintaining a professional, pleasant and welcoming service within the Advice centre / reception area. As part of the role you will: Maintain a professional, pleasant and welcoming reception service, maintaining a clean and smart reception area at all times Meeting and greeting visitors to the College, issuing visitor passes and signposting appropriately Responding effectively and efficiently to all communication channels as and when required. Handle all enquiries in a courteous and helpful way; these may be by telephone, email, livechat or face to face Resolving queries at source where possible or directing visitors and learners to the most appropriate person to answer and resolve their queries Answering enquiries and give information about the full range of College courses on the telephone, via email and to those who call in person Entering applications and updating all EBS record, including contact logs, as required. Meeting and greeting applicants at events and open evenings. To represent and promote the service at a range of college events including Open Days, HE Careers Fairs Successful candidates will have a sound educational background of at least GCSE Maths and English as well as demonstrate commensurate experience. As a Receptionist you will maintain a professional, pleasant and welcoming reception service. You will respond effectively and efficiently to all enquiries in a courteous and welcoming manner and resolving, where possible, all queries at source.. Whilst the role is primarily based in the City Centre Campus there will be an expectation to cover at other CAVC locations on an ad-hoc basis. Whilst the ability to speak Welsh is not essential for the role, we would love to hear from candidates who are fluent and can engage with learners through the medium of Welsh. As part of the role you will: Meet and greet visitors to the College, issuing visitor passes and signposting appropriately Direct visitors and learners to the most appropriate person to answer and resolve their queries Respond effectively and efficiently to all communications channels as and when required Maintain a clean and smart reception area at all times Ensure that banking is passed to G4S and that “safe sign in sheet” has been updated. Ensure that post received is dealt with swiftly and efficiently so that the reception image is not impacted. Act as a point of contact between Estates and Health and Safety for any first aid related queries. Deal with all post, parcel, estates and first aid enquiries   Successful candidates will have a sound educational background of at least GCSE Maths and English as well as demonstrate commensurate experience.
