Lecturer in ESOL (12338)

Internal / External Vacancy Ref:                         12338 Positions:                 Lecturer in ESOL Contract:                 0.4fte Fractional, Permanent Hours:                     14.8 per week Location:                 Cardiff & Vale Salary:                     £24,051 - £47,333 (Pro-Rata)   An opportunity exists within the ESOL department for the appointment of a permanent ESOL Lecturer on a fractional contract.   The successful candidate will be responsible to the Deputy Head for ESOL and will be expected to deliver ESOL classes at all levels at College sites and venues within the community.   In addition to teaching duties there will be organisational, administrative and pastoral work associated with this role.   Ideally, applicants will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and a teaching qualification.  In addition, the successful candidate will have an ESOL specific teaching qualification and preferably significant relevant teaching experience though newly qualified teachers will be considered.    Responsibilities include:   Undertaking of all pedagogic work such as lesson preparation, classroom teaching, tutorial work, marking and administration. The Multiply programme focuses on supporting adult learners  (19 years+) with their numeracy skills for work or everyday life.   The Engagement Officer will enhance the provision by supporting:   The recruitment and retention of learners, Wider community engagement of the programme at events/workshops. Development of partnership working to increase to curriculum offer. The progression of learners to further courses (part time /full time) The marketing and promotion of ‘multiply’ opportunities across the organisation.              You will have experience of working with young people and adult learners who are at risk of becoming disengaged from education, training or employment or are seeking second chances in education. Additionally, you will demonstrate experience of working cross-organisation and with external partners agencies. Junior Apprentice GCSE Maths Tutor (SCHOOL2401)

The Junior Apprentice Programme is aimed at key stage 4 learners who are disengaged in mainstream learning for various reasons. Our learners come from 22 Schools across the Cardiff & Vale area and study with us for two years. The programme is vocational based giving learners the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and qualifications in their chosen pathway. We run 5 pathways as part of the programme – Hair & Beauty, Catering & Hospitality, Multi Trades (Plumbing, Construction and Automotive), Health & Social Care and Digital Creative   In particular, the post holder will be responsible for: Teaching GCSE Maths to the year 10 and year 11 Junior Apprentice 14 – 16 cohort. Course tutor responsibilities of at least one JA group.   Undertaking of all pedagogic work such as lesson preparation, classroom teaching, tutorial work and marking.    Conducting student assessments in order to place students, monitor progress and identify learning support needs and exam access arrangements (EAA).   Providing appropriate student support in order to meet both the academic and welfare needs of learners and ensuring that all relevant information is recorded on the appropriate College systems.   Good working knowledge of GCSE Maths and Numeracy qualifications, as per WJEC criteria for delivery to year 10 and year 11 learners.   You will be educated to degree level with a recognized teaching qualification. You will also have knowledge of teaching WJEC Maths and Numeracy qualifications. 3.
