Sessional Justice Support Worker South Lanarkshire Justice Outreach Services Sacro’s mission is to deliver life changing services that empower people, give hope and protection, and help to build safe communities. We are currently recruiting Sessional Justice Support Workers. Providing support to assist people to comply with statutory and non-statutory court disposals, who may require supports to access local services aimed at helping them to address needs, that may have contributed to them becoming involved in offending behaviour. Our community-based assertive outreach includes helping to engage with recovery-based activities and build stability. You must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a small team. You will have experience of partnership and inter-agency work and ideally have worked in social care, recovery, stabilisation, mentoring, ideally outreach based. Duties will include supporting individuals to access benefits, engage with other agencies, attend appointments, develop social support networks, general living skills and addressing reasons for substance misuse and offending behaviour. You will be required to work alongside our team who carry a caseload and assist with joint working as well as lone working. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is crucial, as this type of work can be challenging. The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential. Successful applicants will be flexible and imaginative in their approach and sensitive and confident in their ability to help service users. Hours of work are as and when required. The aim of the Sacro Edinburgh Travel Service is to facilitate the visiting of prisoners by their families and friends so that relationships can be maintained during a sentence. Sacro’s Travel Service provides a regular transport service to many of Scotland’s prisons and the State Hospital at Carstairs. The service is part of Sacro’s Throughcare Service, enabling people in prison to maintain important contact with their families and friends which research has shown helps to reduce reoffending. We pick up our registered passengers from their home address and take them to their arranged visit before returning them home again completely free of charge. Drivers should be friendly, non-judgemental and respectful of confidentiality, assertive, punctual and organised. It is desirable for our volunteers to have experience of driving in the central belt, but this is not essential. Applicants must have their own car, full, clean driving licence and insurance. Vehicles must have a current MOT and be regularly serviced. Additionally, membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) would be required. In addition to providing a planned programme of support, staff have a caretaker role in the management and operation of the premises and to ensure the overall safety of the accommodation. You must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a small team.
