Women’s Support Worker - Aditi - Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Women’s Well-Being Service Edinburgh 2 x roles at 15 hours per week each. We are looking for a Women’s Support Worker from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds to deliver direct practical support interventions for Sacro’s Aditi Women’s Wellbeing Service in partnership with Multi Cultural Family Base (MCFB). You must have experience of cross-cultural work, be an effective communicator in English as well as in another language prevalent in Scotland’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, highly organised and have effective casework management skills. You will be responsible for delivering direct support and mentoring interventions to BAME women affected by domestic abuse and Honour-Based Violence (HBV) and for maintaining accurate case notes. You will operate within the Scottish Government’s Equally Safe Strategy as well as Sacro’s policies and procedures and will escalate any safety/well-being concerns around adult and child protection to the Service Co-ordinator/Service Manager. You will be responsible for monitoring women’s well-being throughout their journey within the service and for making appropriate follow-on referrals to relevant services. You will also be required to organise, deliver and participate in group community activities. Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement this post. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our North Lanarkshire Justice Support Service, w e are looking to recruit a Justice Support worker to work with those who are subject to statutory and non-statutory court disposals. This position will work in partnership with North Lanarkshire Justice Social Work as additional support to compliment work being undertaken by Justice staff. This position will also require the management of up to two volunteers with lived experience. You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be skilled at developing positive working relationships with both colleagues and those who come into contact with our services. You will be required to have experience working with people involved in the Justice System. Additional skills necessary include good organisation and IT skills. Successful applicants will be required to be flexible in their approach and have the ability to travel across North Lanarkshire. The role is as challenging as it is rewarding. You will need to have a non-judgemental value base, a sensitive and practical approach and be person-centred and flexible to meet the needs of the people we support. A relevant qualification at SVQ level 3 or equivalent is desirable but training will be provided. The aim of the Sacro Edinburgh Travel Service is to facilitate the visiting of prisoners by their families and friends so that relationships can be maintained during a sentence. Sacro’s Travel Service provides a regular transport service to many of Scotland’s prisons and the State Hospital at Carstairs. The service is part of Sacro’s Throughcare Service, enabling people in prison to maintain important contact with their families and friends which research has shown helps to reduce reoffending. We pick up our registered passengers from their home address and take them to their arranged visit before returning them home again completely free of charge. Drivers should be friendly, non-judgemental and respectful of confidentiality, assertive, punctual and organised. It is desirable for our volunteers to have experience of driving in the central belt, but this is not essential. Applicants must have their own car, full, clean driving licence and insurance. Vehicles must have a current MOT and be regularly serviced. Additionally, membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) would be required. We are currently recruiting Sessional Support Workers for our temporary supported accommodation services for individuals who have become homeless. Our aim is to provide support to service users to move on to a more secure, settled and fulfilling life by providing practical advice and assistance. In addition to providing a planned programme of support, staff have a caretaker role in the management and operation of the premises and to ensure the overall safety of the accommodation. You must be able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a small team. You will have experience of partnership and inter-agency work and ideally have worked in social care, housing, mentoring, ideally within a residential setting. Duties will include supporting individuals to access benefits, engage with other agencies, attend appointments, develop social support networks, general living skills and addressing reasons for homelessness. A commitment to Sacro’s value base is crucial, as this type of work can be challenging. The ability to use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment is essential.
