We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst to join the team on a permanent basis.

The role:

  • Assist the Insight & Analytics Manager with the transition to a new Business Intelligence platform providing daily, weekly and monthly reports and dashboards that assist decision making and help to drive the business
  • Work closely with all areas of the organisation to identify emerging business intelligence, insight and reporting needs, translating the requirements into dashboards and reports in a swift and timely manner.
  • Work with the Insight & Analytics Manager to provide all papers and reports for Boards and Sub committees working alongside all relevant departments and trustees.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details, abstract from low- level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from the underlying needs.
  • Proactively collaborate with internal and external customers including trustees to analyse information and cascade appropriately.
  • Support a range of projects across the Zoo using initiative to solve and overcome problems
  • Work independently with users to define concepts under the direction of the Insight & Analytics Manager.
  • Work with the Insight & Analytics Manager to successfully analyse the success of major project developments within the Strategic Development Plan.
  • Provide excellent verbal and written communication in all forms at all levels on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with the finance team to provide detailed budgetary information including re-forecasting and scenario building.
  • Work with the executive on developing master planning timescales and deliverables within the Strategic Development Plan.
  • Provide support to the Insight & Analytics Manager on a daily basis on business related tasks and requirements to ensure the executive remain informed.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree level education and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Exceptional skills in data manipulation (SQL, DAX, M/Power Query and other query languages)
  • Experienced in utilising BI tools to create dashboards and reports (Power BI preferable)
  • Experience and knowledge of implementing mobile business intelligence platforms
  • Knowledge of data science tools (R, Python etc.) and GIS (Q, Arc etc.)
  • Demonstrable ability to manage a number of projects
  • Confident networker and communicator at all levels
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages and other desktop software
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills with if possible certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills

Experience of working within a commercial environment would also be desirable.

Hours of work are 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
