Milton Keynes College Prison Services Team at HMYOI Aylesbury are seeking innovative Teachers to work with a diverse group of learners, helping to build their confidence, develop their skills and achieve within a college environment. The College are looking for candidates interested in variable/ad-hoc and permanent hours, who are keen to explore Prison Education.

 

HMYOI Aylesbury are currently looking for individuals with one or more of the below skillsets to support their curriculum delivery – Ability as a generalist teacher to cover more than 1 of these areas would be beneficial.

 

  • Functional Skills English - Entry to Level 2
  • Functional Skills Maths - Entry to Level 2
  • Vocational Tutors

-Cleaning, Warehousing & Digital Skills

A teaching qualification would be desirable, however those willing to work towards a teaching qualification who hold supporting subject specialism or industry experience would also be considered - we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential.

 

Prison education runs all year round, all day Monday-Thursday and until lunchtime on a Friday. Delivery hours vary slightly prison to prison but full days are split across 2 long lessons (Morning and Afternoon).

ABOUT HMP Aylesbury…

HMP Aylesbury is a Cat C Training prison. The Education Department works closely with our prison colleagues to deliver courses that help prepare learners for employment on release to the community. Courses include: English and Maths Functional Skills, Employability, EDSQ, Hospitality, Customer Service, Health & Safety, Mentoring, Barbering, Industrial Cleaning. This is complemented by an Outreach provision and distance learning courses at Level 3 and beyond. 

In the department we believe the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge will help our learners to end their offending behaviour.? We engage the hardest to reach learners and encourage them to take pride in their own education and self-development.?
