It is a time of unparalleled activity and development at the V&A, at the heart of which sits FuturePlan, a programme of major capital projects across our sites at South Kensington and Bethnal Green.
The current FuturePlan programme comprises around eight projects, along with all their associated impact activities (collections moves, storage preparation, temporary accommodation etc).
In delivering this ambitious, trailblazing programme, the Museum needs to provide excellent collection management and care throughout, ensuring the safety, security and preservation of our objects. This involves managing a complex series of collection moves, creating a suite of new temporary and permanent storage locations, and coordinating showcase care and maintenance.
We are now seeking a Project Manager to lead on these areas, working across the Futureplan programme supporting collections-focused planning, logistics, decant and storage projects. This role will have an initial focus on the Museum of Childhood, which is about to undergo a major redevelopment, transforming it into a world-leading museum of design and creativity for children, families and young people. In preparation for this, a major collections move is already underway, auditing, checking and packing 30,000 objects which are displayed and stored on site in Bethnal Green and transporting them to a temporary location, before the stored collections are finally moved to the new Collections and Research Centre at Stratford, alongside the wider V&A collections.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 4th February 2020 at midday.
