We have a vacancy for a Bids and Tendering Manager for Bridges and Civil Engineering to support the business in winning profitable schemes in the UK Bridges (Aged and New Civil Infrastructure) sector. You will take the Business Development team’s technical proposals and bids through the stages of the commercial sales process, ensuring we deliver best-in-class technical bids and quote at profitable levels, working closely with our Delivery team to ensure smooth handover and ensuring we learn any lessons from historical schemes.
You will manage a pipeline of inbound opportunities generated from existing clients and schemes, working closely with the Business Development and Delivery teams to ensure we identify and follow up on contract renewal and variation opportunities.
This is a Hybrid Working role, with the occasional visit to scheme sites, other Strainstall offices and client offices which are located in Warrington, Bristol and Hampshire. Due to the travel required, it is essential that you hold a full driving licence. Whilst internal relationship building and visibility in the office is critical, working at home some of the time is an accepted part of our work culture for relevant roles and this will absolutely be considered for this role once you are 'up and running'.

- Work with internal teams (Business Development, Operations, Product Development, Software) to estimate costs of potential schemes and prepare customer technical / commercial proposals. Includes obtaining quotations from core supplier network as necessary
- Peer review proposals prepared by others. Ensure technical sign-off for proposals/ reports is delivered as required.
- Keep Strainstall’s opportunities database updated with progress on all relevant opportunities.
- Prioritise opportunities in a way that is aligned with company strategy in consultation with the Business Development and Commercial leadership.
The role would suit someone with an understanding of Bridges and Civil Engineering with an Engineering degree or equivalent, ideally working towards a Chartered or Incorporated qualification. Ideally you will have previous structural monitoring, technical and/or commercial, ideally linked to the UK rail/bridge community.
We are looking for a effective problem solver who can work well in a team setting and who also has the ability to work on own initiative. You should have excellent attention to detail, good levels of authorship and willingness to learn and develop knowledge and skills.
You will have a mixture of home working and also be able to work from our Warrington, Bristol or Hampshire sites
