Travel Trade Sales Executive

Key responsibilities

Work with the Travel Trade Sales Manager to deliver the sales strategy to grow the travel trade business for Royal Museums Greenwich.

  • Focusing on our core product list ensuring all existing clients are selling our most profitable products.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with our existing clients: language schools, educational operators, specialist groups, domestic coach operators.
  • Manage our relationships with local hotels ensuring they promote our attractions and develop direct ticket sales using our new trade portal.
  • Deliver presentations to our clients and host educational family trips to ensure their sales team can sell Royal Museums Greenwich effectively.
  • Produce monthly sales reports and evaluate performance of our client to ensure consistent sales.
  • Represent Royal Museums Greenwich at Travel Trade events and exhibitions across the UK in order to increase sales.
  • Monitor competitor activity as well as any changes to external tourism market.
  • Work with colleagues across the Museum including Bookings, Front of House, Finance, the ticketing System team understanding the impact of Travel Trade across these areas. To work with these departments to deliver travel trade income targets.
  • Support the Admin Assistant to ensure all invoicing occurs in a timely manner and support finance in this effort to achieve this.

Skills & Experience

Essential

 Educated to A level or equivalent

  • Experienced account management of a large number of clients in a visitor attraction, unique venue, or hotel.
  • Proven sales experience with a genuine passion for working with customers and up-selling
  • A persuasive and confident communicator with excellent English, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to form positive relationships with a wide variety of people.
  • A strong team player who is flexible with the ability to undertake a wide variety of tasks.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and to work under pressure.
  • Good Computer skills including using Microsoft Excel and bespoke software
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to make a positive first impression
  • A passion for excellence and an interest in Royal Museums Greenwich

 Desirable

  • Fluency in another European language or Mandarin is a distinct advantage
  • Experience of using a computer reservation system

 Terms and conditions

 The post holder will work a 36-hour week, core hours Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm with an additional hour to be worked in agreement with line manager. Overtime, varied hours and overseas travel will be required.
