1 The specific responsibilities of this post are shown below. These duties and workload are self-managed (i.e. planned and prioritised) and are undertaken within required timescales:

  • To provide in lesson support for identified pupils, under the direction of the SENDCO, including liaising with the relevant teaching staff before a lesson to ensure they are prepared, and to assist with the differentiation of resources.
  • To monitor and track the behaviour and progress of the pupils they are directed to support, and to contribute to relevant education plans.
  • To cover lessons where required, including liaising with the administration team at the start of each day to collect their assignments and any relevant instructions and resources.
  • To feedback to the SENDCO and the relevant department heads about standards in cover lessons.
  • To provide cover in other areas of the academy, such as Isolation and the Inclusion Centre


2 In common with other members of the academy’s support staff, the post-holder will also be

expected:

  • to liaise with parents and the wider community, receive and respond to telephone enquiries and to receive visitors as required;
  • to attend support team, staff and other meetings as required;
  • to work actively to secure continuing development through participating in the academy's training programme;
  • to undertake other duties as may reasonably be required.
