Are you passionate about social history, dedicated to compelling storytelling in museums and committed to asking challenging questions? Do you have the focus, energy and enthusiasm to identify and deliver great interpretive content within the context of a major museum project?
Paisley Museum Re-Imagined is a £42 million project to redevelop Paisley Museum and Art Gallery due to open in 2022. As a storytelling museum, we are committed to exploring and sharing interpretive stories derived from our internationally-significant collections and the experiences of the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire.
Social history will play a key part in delivering our ambitions and we are looking for a pro-active, creative and dedicated curator who will quickly engage with our collections, colleagues and community to identify the most interesting and intriguing objects, and their interpretive stories. We are fully committed to co-production and collaboration and the successful candidate will be expected to play a pro-active role in identifying and exploring new perspectives and interpretations of the collections to ensure that we are a fully inclusive and representative museum.
As the flagship for the regeneration of Paisley town centre - and a legacy project if Paisley is successful in bidding to become UK City of Culture 2021 - the museum redevelopment is the key to unlocking the potential of Scotland’s biggest town. Join us as we start out on this journey and help to shape a truly collaborative museum.
