Head of Technical Services

This is an exciting opportunity to join the pre-opening team for International Convention Centre Wales.

ICC Wales is an £84m joint venture between Celtic Manor Resort and Welsh Government, and when complete in 2019 will accommodate up to 5,000 delegates. The venue includes a 4,000sqm pillar-free main hall, a 1,500-seated auditorium, 12 flexible meeting rooms, a double-height glass atrium and a 2,500 sqm outdoor plaza providing unparalleled conference facilities for events looking for a venue in Wales and the South West of the UK.

We are looking to recruit a Head of Technical Services to work alongside our consultants and contractors to oversee the technical installation of the venue, to gain a valuable insight into the integration and specification of the chosen light, sound and AV equipment and systems and to gain a thorough working knowledge that can be used to support client enquiries and to enable working solutions for confirmed events.

This role will be required to develop a recruitment strategy for the technical services team and play an active role in the recruitment process to ensure we have the right people in place in time for opening.

Once open this role will be ultimately responsible for delivery of all Technical Services within the venue, working with IT managers, the Event Management team and supported by project managers, to deliver against client requirements and exceed expectations through exceptional standards of operational delivery wherever possible providing a professional and seamless experience for our clients.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in production management from a wide variety of style and size of events, will have a broad knowledge of all technical disciplines and be able to develop excellent working relationships with clients and production companies. Knowledge of industry related Health and Safety regulations and the ability to assess and produce risk assessments are also essential for this role. IOSH/NEBOSH would be desirable.

Possessing first class communication skills, being self motivated, highly organised, able to prioritise and adapt to changing demands and having the ability to grow and nurture a team are also key to this role in addition to being able to multi task across a number of projects or events.

The successful candidate will report into the Venue Director and will be required to work closely with the ICC Wales sales team supporting client visits where required.
