Fixed term contract for 2 years

The Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection in the Department of Sculpture, Metalwork, Ceramics and Glass at the Victoria and Albert Museum is looking to recruit a new Provenance and Spoliation Research Curator. The successful candidate will undertake the overall coordination of V&A Provenance and Spoliation Research, including representation of the Museum at the biannual NMDC Spoliation Working Group and will carry out provenance research into the Gilbert Collection. They will be informed about current issues related to provenance, spoliation and restitution of cultural property, and will train staff in provenance research and documentation. They will also support V&A staff in prioritising research by identifying the most critical parts of the collection (including objects identified on the Cultural Property website). Relevant research experience and the necessary proven linguistic skills in German will enable the successful candidate to initiate important fresh approaches to interpretation through teaching and publication.
