We are looking for a passionate, experienced and talented individual to join our Science Learning & Public Engagement department at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Part of Royal Museums Greenwich, this team develops and delivers world-class astronomy and space exploration programmes, resources and media for a range of visitors and audiences. This post will primarily be responsible for the delivery of our popular programme workshops and planetarium shows for nursery and infant school groups (EYFS and KS1, including ages 3-7). These use song, music and story-telling to deliver simple and engaging learning outcomes.
The post-holder must have well-developed singing, musical and storytelling skills, excellent presenting skills and a good understanding of child development and the EYFS and KS1 curricula. They must also have a solid track record of delivering similar work elsewhere for children aged 3 to 7, with experience of developing sessions. Basic scientific knowledge is desirable but not necessary.
The post-holder will receive training on the delivery of relevant workshops and planetarium shows and on answering simple astronomy questions typically asked by very young children.
They will work alongside a second Nursery & Infants Presenter and with the wider team, reporting to the Senior Manager for Science Education.
Interview date 2 July 2018 and 11 July 2018
The interview process will consist of two stages: an initial audition (2 July) and formal interview (11 July). Only candidates that are successful at the audition stage will be invited back for the formal interview.
