Bookstore Retail Manager

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the bookshop and retail space, including editions and merchandise. 
  • Curate the selection of books, merchandise, and editions in collaboration with ICA’s programming teams, ensuring alignment with exhibitions, events, and the ICA’s mission. 
  • Oversee stock management, ordering, pricing, and product displays. 
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize revenue from retail offerings. 
  • Collaborate with artists and creators to develop exclusive ICA merchandise and (editions). 
  • Collaborate with the Head of Learning and Engagement to coordinate book launches and talks in relation to liaising with publishers, audience engagement strategy, and income generation targets 
  • Supervise and train retail staff, ensuring excellent customer service. 
  • Manage online retail platforms, ensuring smooth sales and fulfilment processes. 
  • Prepare and analyse sales reports, set targets, and monitor performance against KPIs, identifying areas for improvement and revenue growth. 
  • Work closely with the Finance team for reconciliation and stock management. 

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Proven experience in retail management, including merchandising, stock control, and customer service. 
  • Experience with retail software (e.g., Booksolve, Shopify, Spektrix) and e-commerce platforms. 
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and culture is desirable.
