We are looking to recruit one Peer Mentor to work with people who are involved with the Criminal Justice social work and health and Social care partnership.  Service Users may have complex issues around homelessness, addictions and care and support needs in addition to offending behaviour. 

We are looking for individuals who have: 

  • Direct experience of recovery and/or mental health issues
  • Past experience of the criminal justice system (please note PVG is still required) 

You should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be skilled at developing positive working relationships with both colleagues and those who come into contact with our services. Additional skills, which will be necessary include good organisation and IT skills. Successful applicants will be required to be flexible in approach and can travel across the Glasgow Council area. You will work closely with local support services and partner organisations.  You should be committed to helping others into a crime free life.

Lived Experience is essential  and a recognised qualification is desirable although full training will be given.

You will be committed to helping service users access areas that promote crime free life choices, promote training, education, healthy life choices and pro social activities in their communities.  The development of Peer Volunteers will also be a part of your role as the service develops over the lifetime of the project.

You will be required to contribute to reports and to keeping records updated.

The role is as challenging as it is rewarding, you will need to have a non-judgemental value base, a sensitive and practical approach and be person-centred and flexible to meet the needs of our service users.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement for these posts. 

This role is fixed term for a period of one year in the first instance with potential for extension subject to funding.
