Milton Keynes College are working in partnership with HMP Spring Hill and Grendon to put Education at the heart of the prison system.

We are looking for an experienced Exams Officer to support population needs and increase efficiency in the co-ordination of the exams process within the prison.

The successful candidate will have customer focused administration and Education support experience. You will work closely with the Education team to support during the Exams process within the prison and invigilate and schedule exams.

HMP Grendon is a unique Therapeutic Category B national prison housing approximately 220 long term, prolific (re)offending adult males. The Education Department works closely with our prison colleagues to deliver relevant long courses that help prepare learners for employment and positive community living upon release. 

HMP Spring Hill is an Open Category D (resettlement) prison, housing approximately 320 male prisoners who are at the end of their custodial sentence and working towards resettlement. Courses at Spring Hill are as above, with additional vocational courses.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Have proven experience of working in a customer focussed administrative environment.
  • Have proven experience of working in an Educational Support Role
  • Have proven experience of processing large volumes of data onto databases
  • Have proven experience of organising events
  • Have a good working knowledge of MS Office and have attained a recognised IT qualification at level 2 or higher.
  • Knowledge of awarding body websites, systems and process for the registration and claiming of achievements.
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to execute duties to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to motivate self and others.
  • Have thinking ability: able to plan, communicate and problem solve effectively.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Location: HMP Grendon and Spring Hill
Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £14,910 - £19,525 per annum
