The Media Intelligence Service (MIS) is responsible for carrying out primary research and analysis in the field of media from an international perspective and with a multidimensional approach (political, economic, socio-cultural and technological). MIS’ main mission is providing EBU departments and Members with reliable market data, trustworthy analysis and relevant arguments that support their daily operations and their strategic planning. In doing so, the Media Intelligence Service contributes to promoting the value of PSM and secure public, societal and political support for PSM.

The Visiting Researcher will have a supporting role for the senior media analysts in the team. S/he will carry out diverse research tasks including data collection and processing, documentation, and production of high-quality reports, slide decks, datasets and presentations.


The Media Intelligence Service is looking for a

                                                                                                             Visiting Researcher

S/he will be required to be polyvalent, addressing topics in diverse fields of knowledge related to public service media and the media market, including market trends, media consumption trends, and digital activities and strategies. S/he will also contribute to the production of country profiles. In addition, s/he will be also involved in the provision of information on request to the EBU Members and Departments. In doing so, s/he crucially contributes to the achievement of MIS’ mission.

Profile
Qualification:
Master's Degree in Communication, Social Sciences or equivalent

Languages: Proficient written and spoken English, any other languages with an advanced level is a plus.

Specific Qualifications and Experience 

- Good knowledge of data and information sources related to the media market.

- Good knowledge and understanding of the media market structures and economics is essential

- Good knowledge of media consumption trends will be valued very positively.

- Good skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods.

- High command of Microsoft PowerPoint.

- A high command of Microsoft Excel is a must.

- A sense for representing trends and results in a visual way will be positively valued.

- Ability to manage several projects / workload packages in parallel, allocating resources in an efficient
way and applying changes when required.

- Ability to work under time constraints and pressure, providing results on time.

- Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with EBU staff and Members.

- A high sense of confidentiality and good judgment.

- Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

- A very high sense of and orientation to excellence. Quality, efficiency and accuracy orientation are
a must.

- A service and team orientation attitude are crucial.

- Flexibility and discipline to work from home if public health reasons force him/her to do so.
