We are seeking a Trainee Cartographer to join our expanding creative design team at an exciting time for the organisation.
TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. We deliver high-profile, large-scale transport projects, and it’s our experts who provide the information and analysis to shape transport strategy. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.
Under the supervision of the Senior Cartographer you will create geographical and schematic maps and learn how to study and understand data from other sources such as technical drawings and written briefs to design maps which allow complex information to be clearly and easily understood by the target audience.
In addition to the training and support you will receive from the Design Team's Senior Cartographer, you will attend Oldham College to achieve an NVQ Level 3 in Graphic Design. You will also receive support from the wider team in helping to develop your skills and experience.
You should have working knowledge of Apple Macintosh equipment perhaps in an education or work environment. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software would be desirable but not essential. You should also have a flexible attitude to fluctuating workloads, excellent timekeeping and the ability to work to deadlines.
To be eligible for this apprenticeship any previous qualifications you have cannot be similar or the same to the qualification you would achieve from this apprenticeship.
The salary for this role is £8,392 - £15,839 per annum. In return, as well as a competitive salary, we also offer a range of fantastic benefits, such as:
