The Astronomy Engagement department is based at the Royal Observatory Greenwich as part of Royal Museums Greenwich and undertakes a wide range of astronomy-focused science communication and engagement programmes and activities for Public and Education audiences: workshops, planetarium shows, community activities, lectures, live demonstrations, cross-site STEM programmes and more.
Staff have specialisations within the department, but support the delivery of each other's activity and the activity of the wider museum. We're entering a particularly exciting period for the Observatory in the approach to our 350 anniversary and the ambition to transform site buildings, programmes, audiences and more as part of our 'First Light' project over the next few years.
You are invited to apply for the post of Planetarium Astronomer in the Astronomy Engagement team, the post holder will report into the Senior Astronomy Manager: Digital and Data.
You will primarily work on the development of digital outputs for a wide range of audiences, specialising in planetarium content, as well as contributing to more complex event and outputs (including cross-departmental and cross-site work at Royal Museums Greenwich).
You must have previous experience in all of the essential criteria on the Person Specification of the Job Description. You will be on a regular roster that includes weekend work.

Your core hours of work will be 36 hours net per week, usually between the hours of 09.00 and 17.00, working on a rota including weekends. You will be required to work bank holidays unless you are on leave. You may be required to work out of hours on occasion, agreed with line management.
Salary: £28,242 per annum
