LEARNING ASPIRATION MENTOR temporary contract up until December 2018 in the first instance required for May or June 2018 37 hours per week – term time (excluding Inset Days) NJC 18-21 (£14,827-£16,525 actual salary)
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to provide outstanding support for the learning and progress of groups of students. The role is an exciting opportunity to help raise the aspirations of key students in order to support them realise their potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with the year group leaders and the careers advisor to:
- Work with targeted students in Years 10 and Year 11 to raise aspirations, provide academic mentoring
- Deliver small workshops aimed at boosting grades, either in the classroom to help keep students engaged and on task or within a separate study area – complementing in-class learning/curriculum
- Build confidence and strategies so that teaching, learning and assessment are effective;
- Support with extra intervention and revision sessions for individuals or small groups;
- Build individual coping strategies, raise self-esteem, confidence for students with low self esteem.
Previous experience of supporting young people in a school setting is desirable although not essential.
